Skin Treatment Aftercare
Laser skin treatment aftercare and general skincare treatment aftercare are essential. The skin can easily become sensitised to the environment after activities such as washing, facials, scrubs, sunbathing, work, social, sport, or any other mild/abrasive contact. Sensitisation can also occur after receiving professional skin treatments. It is essential that you follow the advice in this document to prevent possible side effects and maintain the natural radiance of healthy skin.
1. Regular Cleansing
Skin cleansing should be done regularly, in the morning and at night. See Clear Medical’s 5-Step Skin Care Regime. Use products that are gentle, which don’t sensitise your immune system to trigger a response and thus produce inflammation, pigmentation, lesions, dryness, or oil secretions. This happens depending on your individual susceptibilities. Chemicals in products may sensitise your skin. It is always best to use Natural Products as these do not cause negative side effects on our skin or other body systems in the long run.
2. Skin Barrier
After cleansing it is vital that we use a barrier to protect our skin from the environment. This is because the skin has been stripped of all the natural surface oils by a cleansing agent and chemicals found in water. The natural equilibrium of the skin must be maintained as much as possible. This is mostly due to the impact the environment and our lifestyles can have on our skin. We recommend Clear Medical’s Tone & Defence Skin Oil which helps fortify the skin and protects against harmful chemicals.
3. Healthy Lifestyle
Essentially, prior to and after your treatment, you have a balanced diet as part of a healthy lifestyle and which also includes regular exercise. Your therapist will advise you of any way of improving your current regime, if necessary. We also offer recommendations on specially selected products or regimes, that give sustainable & safe benefits, enhancing the general health of the skin.
4. Post Treatment
After receiving treatments at Clear Medical, it is essential that you maintain a good regime to achieve the best results. Healthier skin throughout treatments will yield less discomfort and redness post-procedure. Observing redness and swelling is common for some clients, which will subdue after a maximum of 48 hours post-procedure. Hypo/hyperpigmentation may occur as a result of an individual’s susceptibility when having some specific treatments. We assure you, this is temporary and should normalise – on average, within one week.
- Be harsh with the skin (no scrubs, chemicals kept at a minimum).
- Have another professional treatment without asking our advice at the right time.
- Try a home treatment yourself, without asking us when is safe to do so.
- Never hesitate to contact us if you have a question.
